Fanatic Wine Co. is powered by Copa Fina Wine Imports, who since 2009 has been bringing lovely small-production wines from far corners of the world for us to enjoy here at home. Now we have flipped the script and are capturing a piece of our own California viticulture to share our story in a new way - as vintners!
Clarksburg, California
The Clarksburg American Viticultural Area is a wine growing region just a few miles south of the City of Sacramento, California's capitol. The region's 7,000 acres of vines are planted in dense clay loam soils along the banks of the Sacramento River. The hallmark of this terroir is the intense wind and fog generated by the San Francisco Bay that moves up the Sacramento Delta, providing the ideal balance of warm days and cool, breezy evenings.
These sprawling river-lands remind us of the vineyards around the city of Angers in the central Loire Valley and are similarly suited to produce high quality Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Gris.
